Batoidea Sheets

This song is inspired from a game I played for a while, Alice – Madness returns. I dreamt of one of the worlds one has to get through in the game that takes place underwater. My mind started playing with the thought of actually living underwater, in a parallel universe where it was possible. But the song is not only about the magic of a fantasy world, it also portrays the thought of escaping when life becomes difficult to handle.

Batoidea Sheets (Lyrics)

Hello I woke up again, I’m pretty surprised
As I’m floating in blue, scraping off seaweed from my arms
I raise my palms

Salty currents, my eyes are dry
When I’m underwater my tears can hide

I’m squinting for light, I move my arms
The sand tickle my toes, I am lost in a world of stars
They shimmer and swirl

I am drifting somewhere unknown
When I’m underwater my tears don’t show

Hey my friends of the sea, have you missed me
Perhaps I’ll just stick around, grow a pair of gills and sleep right here
Batoidea sheets

The ocean sings me a lullaby
When I’m underwater my tears can hide
Salty currents, my eyes are dry
When I’m underwater my tears can hide
