On American Soil

Today I’ve had a long flight, about 16 hours in total with the transfers included. I’ve visited the airport of Reykjavik and flown over the majestic landscape of Iceland. I thereafter ended up on an 8 hour flight to Seattle, where I was greeted into the US with a bunch of questions about my stay I have never gotten in any other country I’ve visited before. If I carry any plants was probably the weirdest question. Other questions had the purpose of gathering information about how long I was planning to stay (a return ticket is a must), what my budget was and how I was planning on traveling in the country. Arriving at San Francisco airport I was picked up by my friend Johan, and we traveled by car to see the exquisite view of San Francisco by night, before heading towards Monterey.
So here I am now, in a house close to the sea at the coast of California. I have already begun enthusing about the differences in our material daily lives. For instance, the house has doors with doorknobs – very unusual for me and I had to ask how to look the door. The sink contains one of those classic disposal systems you always come across in movies. And everything is huge! Stove, washing machines (those classic ones with lid on the top, lovely!), tables, chairs, sofas. If I was shorter I would feel like Alice in Wonderland drinking a bottle of shrinking potion. After being awake for more than 24 hours, I will try to sleep on the comfortable couch that I now occupy.

Adventure

Tomorrow. Tomorrow will be the beginning of the journey I have planned for the last couple of months. For the first time in my life I will visit the United States, and not just any place, but California. The west coast, which has been home to a number of series and movies. Also, hosting many of the world’s greatest stars, it is the place where everything is going on, the place to be.

My first stop will be San Francisco, home to extraordinary Muir Woods from “Rise of the Planet of the Apes”. Not to mention the Golden Gate Bridge. Wow. This will be amazing. So nervous, yet very excited. A lot of the trip is a grey zone, so I’ll just have to tell you as it happens.

Stay tuned as the blog really begins

Wonder and Magic

Cover for Four Leaf CloverTwo songs are now available on Spotify. Since a lot of people nowadays use Spotify, it feels great since it finally gives me the opportunity to really share my music. Writing music is something that I just do. I never decide to do it, I just have to write sometimes. If I can share that personal experience and realize people enjoy listening to my music, it is all I ever wished for. Songs can be full of imagination and have a story to tell. I hope to bring a little wonder and magic into the world.

At the bottom of the ocean

BlueI_RGB_BatoideaSheetsTo find myself on Spotify… That’s quite the feeling, to be honest. My music is starting to spread and it feels amazing! First out on Spotify was Batoidea Sheets, released last Thursday, and the other songs will be released with a two week interval. By December 19, all five songs from my first EP will be out in all major online stores!

During the last couple of weeks I’ve been writing some new tunes, among them “Garden of Unicorns” and self-titled song “Blue I”. I hope to be able to share them with you soon!

You may ask: What type of songs are they? When people ask me what genre of music I write it has been very hard to answer, since they don’t really fit with any existing genre. It’s some kind of pop, with influences of folk, and lyrics that are storytelling. So when the producer I’ve been working on the EP with, Andreas Rydman, suggested it sounded like “Drömsk Pop” in Swedish, it felt just right. The genre of Dreamy Pop was born. “Dreamy Pop”, I can now answer. I write Dreamy Pop.

Better Salary for Swedish Nurses!

On Thursday October 24, 2013, I will sing a well known tune at Södermalmstorg at the manifestation concerning better salaries for Swedish nurses. Since I have studied nursing for two years, I have seen how nurses struggle to offer good care as their field of responsibilities expand while the salary stays the same. I believe their struggle for better premises is of the utmost importance not only to all working nurses, but also to the whole society. Hence, I wholeheartedly support the cause. So swing by Slussen around 5 pm on Thursday to listen in on the manifestation and see my performance! Click the title to see the Facebook event.

Cozy Saturday Gig

DSC_2763

This Saturday I had the pleasure to perform at a private birthday party of a former colleague. I played mostly original material, but also some covers as the guests were arriving. Let’s call it a mingle gig, shall we. It was fun and cozy! Here’s a pic from the event, as I played the piano in the magical candle light.
